Philadelphia-based Axalta Coating Systems, an industrial coatings company, and Amsterdam-based AkzoNobel, a paints and coatings company, have rebranded as Axanzo following completion of their merger. The combined company’s name is a reference to both companies and symbolizes a new era.

The merger, which was announced in November 2025, creates a company with a portfolio of approximately 100 brands of paints and coatings that serves customers in more than 160 countries. Nothing changes for customers and partners.

AkzoNobel CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume is CEO of the combined company while Axalta CEO Chris Villavarayan is serving as deputy CEO.

“We’re excited to announce the new name for our combined company,” Poux-Guillaume said. “Axanzo signals a bold new start for a company which will be stronger in every way. It’s a launchpad for going further and faster than we ever could alone, embodying the pace and power to innovate, the strength to deliver and the excellence to succeed.

“Axanzo will focus on delivering uncompromising performance to sharpen our competitive edge, while establishing a profitable and sustainable path forward as a world leader in coatings.”

Axalta and AkzoNobel will continue to operate as independent companies until early 2027 when regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions are expected to be finalized.
