Allegheny Health Network (AHN), an integrated health care delivery system serving the greater Western Pennsylvania region, recently completed lighting retrofits and facility optimization projects at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), West Penn Hospital and Forbes Hospital.
“At AHN, sustainability is an important part of how we strengthen our organization for the future while remaining focused on delivering exceptional care,” Dan Lesinski, AHN’s energy and sustainability manager, said. “These projects demonstrate that investing in energy efficiency can deliver meaningful environmental benefits while creating savings that can be redirected toward initiatives that support our patients, staff and communities.”
Projects began in 2022 and have resulted in more than 6.5 million kilowatt-hours in energy savings and reduced emissions by 4,400 metric tons, according to the company. The company
also received more than $680,000 in energy-efficiency incentive rebates from Duquesne Light Co.’s Business Solutions Rebate Programs.
The programs are available to business customers that invest in qualifying energy-efficiency projects that reduce energy use, lower operating costs and improve facility performance.
AHN conducted approximately 7,000 LED lighting fixture upgrades at Forbes Hospital and more than 31,000 LED lighting fixtures and 1,000 exit sign upgrades at AGH. At West Penn Hospital, the company conducted HVAC improvements and control upgrades to optimize building performance and energy use.
