The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) recently began its Bringing the World to PA event — a two-week, 10-stop tour that aims to help Pennsylvania businesses expand abroad.
Through the event, Pennsylvania’s authorized trade representatives from around the globe will provide Pennsylvania companies that are seeking foreign market intelligence, agents and distributor candidates, and industry and government contacts. The event will also include market presentations, educational seminars, and networking receptions.
The event runs from Sept. 10 through Sept. 21.
“International trade is an important part of Pennsylvania’s thriving business climate,” DCED Secretary Dennis Davin said. “Through Bringing the World to PA, the Wolf Administration hopes to provide more Pennsylvania businesses with the access and support they need to grow and flourish by breaking into international markets.”
DCED’s Office of International Business Development (OIBD) is working with local partners to organize the event. OIBD operates 15 overseas trade offices to help facilitate and expand trade operations in the commonwealth.
Pennsylvania businesses exported $38.7 billion in goods in 2017, with top export destinations including Canada, Mexico, China, and the United Kingdom.
