Warrendale-based Superior Huntingdon Composites, a fiberglass continuous filament mat and veil products manufacturer, recently announced it will invest $4.4 million to reactivate a third production line at its Huntingdon Borough facility.

The production line was idled in 2012. Reactivating it will increase production capacity and the company’s long-term growth.

“For over five decades, Superior Huntingdon Composites has been fiberizing glass in our Huntingdon facility,” Jason Takac, Superior Huntingdon Composites president and CEO, said. “These investments will help us grow our Pennsylvania manufacturing platform, invest in advanced production capabilities, and reinforce the domestic supply chain to meet our customers’ needs with speed and reliability. We are grateful to the Shapiro Administration and the DCED (Department of Community and Economic Development) for making these investments possible. These investments help support our continued commitment to the composites industry, Huntingdon County, and our employees.”

The project is expected to create 26 jobs over the next three years and retain 74 existing, full-time positions.

The DCED submitted a funding proposal for a $1.7 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan and $200,000 Pennsylvania First grant.

Superior Huntingdon Composites’ products are used in composites manufacturing in a wide range of industries including building materials, defense, infrastructure, marine power and energy, and transportation.
