New Galilee, Pa.-based Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) celebrated the grand opening of its Advanced Switchgear Factory on Oct. 15.
The company’s new facility marks a major milestone in its investment to strengthen electric grid infrastructure and address increased energy demand across the country. The 160,000-square-foot factory, part of an $86 million investment, is expected to expand domestic production capacity for transmission and distribution equipment.
“The Advanced Switchgear Factory represents much more than additional manufacturing capacity. It is an investment in MEPPI’s next generation of grid technology and in our ability to serve our customers from North America. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with the employees, customers, and partners who helped make this vision a reality,” Tricia Breeger, president and CEO of MEPPI, said. “By expanding our capabilities in advanced switchgear and vacuum circuit breaker technology, we are positioning MEPPI to help our customers build stronger, more resilient and more sustainable power infrastructure.”
Officials said opening the new factory will further strengthen Western Pennsylvania’s role as a center for advanced manufacturing and energy innovation. The project is supported by Pennsylvania and officials said it reflects a shared commitment to economic development, workforce growth and investment into critical infrastructure.
“Utilities and data centers are increasingly facing the same challenge: how to bring more power online reliably, efficiently and at greater speed and scale,” Breeger said. “The Advanced Switchgear Factory expands MEPPI’s ability to respond to that challenge, not simply as an equipment supplier, but as a technology and solutions partner helping our customers Engineer the Infrastructure of the Future.”
