Cranberry Township-based MSA Safety, an advanced safety products, technologies and solutions company, recently announced a five-year, up to $10.6 million contract with an unnamed major northeast U.S. utility to deploy connected worker safety technology at worksites. The contract is the largest for the MSA Safety ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector to date and represents approximately $6.7 million in initial contract value.

The ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector, part of the MSA+ Connected Ecosystem, combines advanced gas detection capabilities with real-time connectivity to address the risks of combustible gas exposure, confined space and lone-worker situations. It is the company’s first cellular-connected gas detector featuring an integrated pump, making it ideal for confined space monitoring and sampling applications.

The utility selected the ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector to help enhance worker safety and operational efficiency.

“Connected technology is changing the way organizations approach safety by simplifying gas detector maintenance and real-time alerts,” Stephanie Sciullo, MSA Americas president, said. “This multi-year partnership underscores the trust placed in MSA Safety’s connected detection solutions and service, while helping customers protect their people and operate more efficiently.”

The company expects to begin shipping the initial order in December. The devices are scheduled to be deployed beginning in January.
