McKeesport-based CP Industries, a manufacturer of pressure vessels for the containment and transportation of pressurized gases, plans to invest $21.7 million to expand its Allegheny County operations.
The company plans to construct a 25,000-square-foot facility on its McKeesport site, more than tripling its composite cylinder production. The company also will upgrade its equipment which is expected to boost production capacity by 50 percent and support sales growth. Composite cylinders are used in alternative fueled on-board transportation.
“We highly appreciate the support provided by the commonwealth and other local agencies that allow us to continue our rich tradition in the McKeesport area,” Michael Larsen, CP Industries president, said. “We are excited to expand two of our critical product lines and continue to prove that this region provides world class manufacturing.”
The Department of Community and Economic Development submitted a funding proposal for a $805,000 Pennsylvania First grant, a $115,800 WEDnetPA grant to train workers and a $3.06 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan.
The project is expected to create 78 jobs over the next five years.
CP Industries is part of EKC International and entered the composite vessel business in 2014. Its products are used in renewable natural gas, hydrogen and space applications.
