The Mon Valley LaunchBox, powered by Penn State Greater Allegheny, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Sept. 29 for its Tube City Center for Business and Innovation in McKeesport.
The new location is on the second floor of the former Daily News Building and provides space for in-person and virtual programming and co-working opportunities. Its office hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, but appointments can be made for other weekdays.
“As the LaunchBox expands its presence in the community, we hope to offer both in-person and virtual programming,” Rosemary Martinelli, LaunchBox director of community engagement and Penn State Greater Allegheny assistant teaching professor of marketing and communications,
said. “The new location will include a conference room, three private offices, and a central area that can function as a small theater, along with Wi-Fi and other technology.”
The LaunchBox supports entrepreneurs, small businesses and individuals exploring new career opportunities. Entrepreneurs are supported at every stage including those deciding whether to pursue an idea and established owners seeking to strengthen their operations.
McKeesport Mayor Tom Maglicco and Martinelli shared a vision to create opportunities for prospective and established business owners throughout the Youghiogheny and Monongahela river valleys. The McKeesport location is the result.
