Pittsburgh-based United States Steel Corp. (U. S. Steel) recently released its third diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) report.

The report highlights DE&I milestones the company achieved over the past year, and includes plans to further foster an inclusive culture and promote diversity.

“Driven by the firm conviction that diversity, equity, and inclusion enhance our ability to provide better solutions for each other and our stakeholders, while also strengthening our business, DE&I remains a key component of U. S. Steel’s corporate strategy,” Mona Dine, Corporate Human Resources chief diversity officer and general manager, said.

Highlights include results of an employee survey soliciting input, tracking sentiment, and providing a forum for discussion; a development program to increase the number of women leaders in senior manager-and-above positions; and President and CEO David B. Burritt became the only global steel company CEO to sign the Disability:IN CEO Letter on Disability Inclusion.

U. S. Steel operates throughout the United States and in Central Europe. It has a raw steelmaking capability of 22.4 million net tons annual.

The company has received several third-party workplace honors over the past year. This includes scoring a 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, a top score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index, and being named one of Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies.
