WellSpan Health, the operator of nine hospitals in central Pennsylvania, is constructing three hospitals that recently entered the final construction stages.
“It has taken several groups working together as one team to envision, plan and construct these new facilities to better serve our communities and we celebrate the efforts of everyone involved,” Victoria Diamond, WellSpan central region senior vice president, said. “The excitement of seeing such significant progress adds a renewed energy to the projects as we continue pushing forward to our early 2026 opening of these hospitals.”
WellSpan Carlisle Hospital will be located in Cumberland County, the WellSpan Newberry Hospital will be located in Newberry Township, and WellSpan Shrewsbury Hospital will be located in New Freedom. Once opened in early 2026, the hospitals will provide common emergency care and patient services, and will improve residents’ access to high-quality health care in the region. The hospitals will feature 10 inpatient beds, and diagnostic capabilities such as ultrasound, CT, X-ray and laboratory services.
“Patients requiring hospital-level care will benefit from this nationally proven model that touts emergency department wait times of less than 10 minutes as well as diagnostic results averaging around 20 minutes,” Daniel Hernandez, WellSpan neighborhood hospitals vice president, said.
WellSpan Health is the region’s largest employer.
