Agility Robotics, an Oregon-based humanoid robotics and physical AI company with an office in Pittsburgh, is expanding its footprint in the city by approximately 35,000 square feet.
The company purchased a 50,000-square-foot facility that will increase its capacity to deploy, monitor, service and continuously improve Digit, its human-centric robot, as the customer base grows.
The new site will serve as Agility’s center of excellence for software and AI and a hub for customer deployment and support teams. The focus will be on Digit skill development and software enablement. Employees will be responsible for customer operations, deploying new robots and workflows, developing and validating new skills, providing complex robot service and repair, and validating customer applications.
“Scaling humanoid robotics means building the infrastructure to support robots throughout their entire working life, from developing new skills and deploying them into customer operations to supporting deployed fleets to keep robots productive every day,” Peggy Johnson, Agility Robotics CEO, said. “Our expanded Pittsburgh presence brings those capabilities together and gives us the infrastructure to support our growing customer base and an increasing number of Digit deployments across the country.”
The facility will begin operation by 2027. It supports Agility’s broader U.S. infrastructure for scaling commercial humanoid robotics.
