Bethlehem-based ABEC, a biopharmaceutical manufacturing company, plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 24 for its Wilson, N.C., manufacturing facility. The event aims to recognize the collaborative efforts of employees, contractors, community partners, and local officials who helped make the project a reality.
The facility will manufacture bioprocess equipment and consumable products. It will strengthen the company’s ability to support the rapidly growing biopharmaceutical industry and will allow it to expand its global manufacturing network. The products are used in biologics, vaccines, and other advanced medicines.
“This investment expands our manufacturing capabilities, brings us closer to customers in the southeastern United States, and reinforces our ability to deliver the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio of bioprocess equipment, consumables, and engineering solutions,” Scott Pickering, ABEC CEO, said.
In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the event will include facility tours. ABEC leadership and local community representatives also will speak.
ABEC selected the location because Wilson is in one of the nation’s fastest-growing life sciences regions. The facility will further strengthen the company’s position as the biopharmaceutical industry’s largest dedicated manufacturing network for process equipment and solutions.
ABEC also has manufacturing operations in Bethlehem, Penn., and Springfield, Mo., and two locations in Ireland.
