Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank celebrated the opening of its 50th new location since announcing its coast-to-coast build-out of more than 300 branches across the country.
The build-out is part of its strategy to invest $2 billion in its branch network, including building locations in 19 markets and renovating its existing network across key U.S. markets. The bank said it is on track to hit its goal of opening 55 new branches in 2026, the largest single-year branch expansion effort in its history.
“Our branch network is the heartbeat of our retail business, offering hospitable and relationship-based advice and assistance to the millions of customers who visit us each month,” Alex Overstrom, head of Retail Banking at PNC, said. “Reaching our 50th branch opening is an important milestone in what is ultimately a journey to create a ubiquitous network across the United States.”
Its latest branch is located in Hialeah, Florida, officials said. Opened on Aug. 3, 2026, the branch joins expansions into Dallas, Miami, Houston and Denver. The bank said its expansion strategy began with a nearly $ billion commitment in February 2024 with plans to open more than 100 new branches and renovate more than 1200 existing locations through 2028. PNC expanded on that in November 2024 with an additional $500 million investment that increased its planned branch openings to more than 200 across 12 cities. In November 2025, the bank increased its goal again to 300 branches by 2030, raising the total branch investment to approximately $2 billion.
Physical branches continue to play a role in fostering trusted relationships, the bank said, and allows it to further offer personalized financial guidance and support complex financial needs. Its growing network of locations will give its customers greater choices in how the bank, whether its online, through mobile apps or in person, the bank said.
