AIRCO (formerly Air Company), an industrial technology company for energy security and global resiliency, announced it would establish a new manufacturing and integration facility in New Britain, Pa., to serve as its primary manufacturing base.
The new facility will allow AIRCO to scale domestic manufacturing of its power-to-liquid fuel production systems. Housing the production of AIRCO’s modular synthetic fuel production systems, the new facility will consolidate R&S, engineering, operations, and manufacturing into one campus. The move positions the company for growth and will serve as the company’s primary hub for new technology development.
Officials said its new-to-manufacture containerized units – the Mobile, Adaptable and Dynamic (MAD) Fuel System – produces jet fuel, as well as fuel for ground vehicles by extracting CO2. The system eliminates the need for traditional fuel transport and resupply logistics. Backed by recent U.S. Air Force funding, the technology improves safety for fuel logistics personnel, officials said. The systems are designed for increasing levels of autonomy, with minimal on-site personnel.
“For over a century, fuel has been produced in centralized refineries and shipped around the world. We’re changing that,” Gregory Constantine, co-founder and CEO of AIRCO, said. “This facility enables us to manufacture autonomous systems that produce fuel anywhere, on demand. It’s a fundamental shift from fuel as a commodity to fuel as infrastructure.”
The new facility will build on AIRCO’s momentum in the defense sector, officials said. By integrating its AIRMADE fuel technology into modular platforms, AIRCO has been able to create flexible, mobile energy hubs that can adapt to different environments and resources while delivering consistent, high-quality fuel output, officials said.
