Wolf administration celebrates $3.7B invested in education over eight years

Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has invested $3.7 billion in public education over the past eight years.

This year’s budget includes $1.8 billion in education investments.

Funding includes:

Pre-K Counts and Head Start received a $79 million increase, Special Education received a $100 million increase, and public higher education received $220 million.

Level Up received a $225 million increase to provide targeted support to the 100 most in-need school districts. The program’s goal is to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed no matter their zip code by providing equal access to a high-quality education.

The Fair Funding Formula received a $525 million increase. Each school will see its funding increase by 8 percent on average.

In addition, the state provides $850 million in recurring funding to school districts to invest in learning while cutting local property taxes.

Wolf recently spoke at East Norriton Middle School in the Norristown Area School District at the district’s new teacher induction.

“I’m proud of the steps we’ve taken to bring new resources into our schools,” Wolf said. “And I am deeply proud of the teachers all across the commonwealth who have worked so hard to give each student the education they deserve, even when the resources you needed to succeed were scarce.”
