PPL Foundation launches Powering a Brighter Future scholarship

The PPL Foundation, which supports nonprofit organizations engaging in work that creates sustainable communities, recently launched a scholarship program to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the energy sector by attracting more women and minorities.

The program, Powering a Brighter Future, will award $1 million in scholarships over the next 10 years to people pursuing careers in information technology, engineering, and tech and trade.

Each year, the program will award $100,000 in scholarships. The 10 Powerful Tech and Trade program will award $2,500 per person for female and minority students entering full-time, post-secondary career training at a community college or technical school in PPL’s Pennsylvania service territory. The 15 Power Scholars program will award $5,000 per person to female and minority students pursuing degrees in engineering and information technology at a full-time college or university.

“As PPL works to advance a more sustainable energy future for all customers, we believe it’s important that the people fueling that innovation, driving change, creating new customer programs, and building tomorrow’s energy infrastructure reflect the diversity of those we serve,” PPL Foundation President Ryan Hill said.

Nontraditional students and those who need funding in later years of their educational career are welcome to apply.
