UGI Energy Services, a subsidiary of UGI Corp, recently purchased GHI Energy, a Houston-based renewable natural gas company.

The purchase is part of the company’s strategy to position itself as a leading provider of energy solutions that meet environmental and social needs, UGI Corp. President and CEO John Walsh said.

The purchase also allows the company to grow in an environmentally responsible way.

GHI will benefit from UGI Energy Services’ marketing, supply & logistics, and its project expertise, UGI Corp. said.

“This transaction represents a major strategic opportunity that provides us with incredible resources from an industry leading energy marketing brand to both grow the company and continue to enhance the excellent customer service that we are known for, both to our existing customer base in California and to future customers in other regions, ” John Greene, GHI co-founder, said.

GHI primarily provides vehicle fleets with renewable natural gas and is a renewable natural-gas marketer in California.

California has a robust carbon credit trading program.

UGI’s recently published an environmental, social, and governance report.

UGI Corp. is an operator of natural gas and electric utilities. It operates domestically through AmeriGas, internationally through UGI International, and manages midstream energy assets in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.
