Brad Berryman to oversee Susquehanna nuclear power plant

Talen Energy recently promoted Brad Berryman to senior vice president and chief nuclear officer. He will oversee all aspects of the Susquehanna nuclear power plant in Luzerne County.

Berryman previously served as site vice president for Susquehanna Nuclear. The plant is a two-unit, 2,700-megawatt facility.

“Brad is an experienced nuclear professional with proven leadership capabilities and a strong drive to deliver world-class performance,” CEO Ralph Alexander said. “Since joining Talen in February 2017, he has been central to Susquehanna’s performance improvement in the areas of operations, finance and safety, leading the plant from third quartile to top decile performance and rankings. We are excited to have him take on this expanded role and look forward to continue driving our objectives for Susquehanna under his leadership.”

Berryman has the support of the 925 Susquehanna employees and a strong relationship with Talen’s Nuclear Oversight Committee, Alexander said.

Before joining Talen, Berryman served in the U.S. Navy and worked for NextEra Energy Resources, Arizona Public Service, and Entergy. He held positions in the areas of operational, financial, technical, and training.

Berryman serves on the board of directors for the Berwick Area United Way.

Talen owns or controls 15,000 megawatts of generating capacity mostly in the Mid-Atlantic Northeast and Southwest.
