Fairless Hills-based Silvi Cement, a company in the ready-mix concrete, sand mining, stone mining, slag and cement businesses, recently announced it will be expanding its rail-served cementitious materials distribution network by opening two terminals.
One terminal will be opened in Greenville, S.C., in October and the other in Columbus, Ohio, during the fourth quarter. They are part of the company’s strategy to invest in infrastructure and logistics capabilities so it can better position itself to serve an increased demand in the Southeast and Midwest and provide additional supply chain flexibility.
“Our continued investment in rail infrastructure is about building the network we need to reliably serve our customers as Silvi Materials grows,” Laurence J. Silvi II, Silvi Materials co-president, said. “Greenville and Columbus put us closer to customers in two important markets and give us greater flexibility to move high-quality cement and slag where they are needed. These facilities are another step in building a distribution network that can support our customers and our company for years to come.”
Both rail terminals will distribute Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag. The Columbus terminal also will have around-the-clock loading capabilities. The company has designated it as its Central Ohio terminal.
