Ellen G. Cooper recently assumed the role of president and CEO of Radnor-based Lincoln Financial Group and became a member of Lincoln National Corp.’s board of directors.

Cooper previously served for a decade in other executive roles, working as executive vice president, chief investment officer, and head of the Enterprise Risk and the Annuity Solutions group. She also was a member of the Lincoln Financial Foundation board. In August, she was named CEO-elect.

Cooper becomes the company’s 10th president and CEO and is the first woman to serve in the role.

“I am excited to lead this incredible company, which has a long and successful track record of providing strong results to shareholders while delivering significant value to the customers who depend on us every day,” Cooper said. “Harnessing the power of our superior product manufacturing and distribution capabilities, combined with our strong culture centered on longstanding relationships and highly talented people, we will continue to deliver trusted solutions for millions of Americans seeking financial security and protection for themselves and the people they care about most.”

Dennis R. Glass served as president and CEO for 15 years. He becomes chairman of the board.

Lincoln Financial Group had $308 billion in end-of-period account values as of March 31.
