Elliott Company recently announced that it finalized the purchase of the former Jeannette Glass property in Jeannette, Pa.
Elliott Company, which designs, manufactures, and services turbomachinery worldwide, is based in Jeannette. The new facility will be used to test cryogenic pumps.
The Jeannette Glass Company began operations as Jeannette Bottle Works in the late 1880s, producing handmade bottles, jars, and dishware. The company ceased production and closed its factory in 1983.
Elliott Company took title and possession of the property under terms of a Purchase and Sale Agreement dated March 13, 2018, between Elliott and the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation (WCIDC).
“We are excited about how this project came together and appreciative of the partners involved,” Jason Rigone, executive director of the WCIDC, said. “Supporting Elliott’s growth and creating opportunities for county residents has been our goal.”
Over the last year, Elliott worked with a construction engineering firm to design the cryogenic pump testing facility. Elliott also worked with regulatory authorities to secure an air permit for the facility.
“Cryogenic pumps are a recent addition to Elliott’s product line,” Elliott Group CEO Michael Lordi said. “The ability to test these units prior to shipping is a key element of the manufacturing process, and is essential to Elliott’s expansion plans.”
The construction contractor will begin site mobilization in early November, and official groundbreaking will occur on Dec. 3. Construction is expected to take about 18 months. Approximately 130 new jobs will be created once the new facility is fully operational.
