Bass Pro Shops plans to open a new location in Muncy Township, the company announced during a June 9 Lycoming County county commissioners meeting.
The location will be the company’s third in Pennsylvania, and Bass Pro Shops is first tenant in The District at Lycoming Valley development. The store is expected to open in January 2027 and will serve customers in a large portion of the Pennsylvania Wilds. It will employ approximately 150 people.
Lawmakers say the super store could spur economic development and new opportunities for tourism and recreation.
“This is exciting news for our region,” state Rep. Jamie Flick (R- Lycoming County) said. “The arrival of Bass Pro Shops at the former Lycoming Mall site marks a significant step forward for economic development and community revitalization in our area. Thanks to strategic funding made possible through Act 13 dollars — not taxpayer money — this project is a smart investment in our future. It will not only breathe new life into a property that was vacant, but it will also bring jobs, revenue and renewed energy to Lycoming County and the surrounding communities. I look forward to seeing the positive ripple effects this project will create for years to come.”
