PA Gaming Control Board receives additional applications for Fantasy Sports Contests operators

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced last week that, in addition to six applications previously received, the board has received four more applications from companies seeking to operate Fantasy Sports Contests.

As stated by the board, it is legal to participate in Fantasy Sports Contests with any of the 10 applicant firms if the individual is submitting an entry fee for a contest or initiating play from within Pennsylvania.

The six previous companies approved include StarStreet LLC doing business as (d/b/a) DRAFT; JDAD, LLC d/b/a FFPC: Fantasy Football Players Championship; Fanduel PA LLC d/b/a Fanduel; Crown PA DFS Inc. d/b/a Draftkings Inc.; Boom Shakalaka Inc. d/b/a Boom Fantasy; and Fastpick.com.

The four new applicant companies include Sportshub Technologies d/b/a Fanball, CDM Sports, MFL 10s, National Fantasy Championships; Yahoo Fantasy Sports LLC, Fantasy Draft LLC; and Full Time Fantasy Sports d/b/a scoutantasysports.com.

It is not legal, however, to participate in Fantasy Sports Contests while within Pennsylvania with any firm or company not listed among the 10 approved.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board oversees all aspects of the state’s casino industry as well as new gaming initiatives created through amendments to the Race Horse Development and Gaming Act approved under the signing of Act 42 of 2017. The commonwealth’s casino industry employs nearly 17,000 people and generates $1.4 billion each year in tax revenue. The largest portion of that money is used for property tax reductions throughout Pennsylvania.
