Pittsburgh-based Tronix3D, a 3D printing company, plans to invest nearly $4 million to expand its Allegheny County 3D printing and manufacturing operations.

Expansion will more than triple its production space and will increase the company’s production capacity allowing it to serve clients in the defense and robotics industries. The company will achieve the added square footage by relocating from the third to the fourth floor of its facility.

“Tronix3D is grateful for the Commonwealth’s support as we expand our advanced manufacturing operations in Pittsburgh,” Mike Vindler, Tronix3D CEO, said. “This investment will allow us to increase our production capacity, create 47 new jobs over the next three years, and continue supporting critical industries including robotics, defense, aerospace, and Physical AI right here in Pennsylvania.”

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) submitted a funding proposal for a $200,000 Pennsylvania First grant. Tronix3D will use the funding to purchase manufacturing equipment.

“Tronix3D’s expansion is a great example of how we’re helping innovative businesses grow, bring cutting-edge technologies to market, and create good-paying jobs right here in the commonwealth,” DCED Secretary Rick Siger said on Friday during a visit to Tronix3D.

Tronix3D’s customers are in the robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical, and defense industries.
