O’Hara Township-based Tandem Foods, a contract food manufacturer specializing in better-for-you snacks for consumer-packaged goods companies and entrepreneurial brands, plans to invest $42 million to expand its operations in Allegheny County.
Tandem Foods will lease an additional 79,000-square-feet of space at the facility where it will install a new food production line dedicated to cold form bar manufacturing. The company already leases three facilities in the township that are used to manufacture multiple lines of cold-slab bars, chocolate moulding, and more.
“The installation of our new cold-form line represents the single largest investment in Tandem Foods’ 40-year history and is a direct response to the sustained growth of our strategic partners and the exciting pipeline of new business we’re developing,” Michael Buick, Tandem Foods CEO, said. “We’re excited to make this investment in Pennsylvania, leveraging the skilled manufacturing workforce that we’ve relied on for years and with the support of Governor Shapiro and DCED.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) submitted a $420,000 funding proposal for a Pennsylvania First grant.
The project is expected to create 83 jobs over the next three years and retain 446 existing, full-time positions. Tandem Foods operates eight facilities nationwide.
