Pittsburgh-based PPG, a paints, coatings and specialty products company, recently introduced an enhanced product that addresses increased corrosion requirements in the direct-to-metal coatings segment. Compared to the previous version, salt spray resistance has been enhanced, and certification confirms its superior corrosion resistance and increased reliability in demanding light industrial environments.
The enhanced formulation of PPG SELEMIX 7-159 Direct Pro 2K acrylic topcoat is intended for the light industrial coatings market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It expands application flexibility and is optimized for use with air-assisted airless systems. It provides improved sag resistance, greater control during application and a consistent, high-gloss surface appearance.
“This enhanced topcoat combines higher-protection performance, broader application flexibility and stable processing in one solution,” Kelly Hess, PPG global light industrial coatings product manager, automotive refinish, said. “It is a direct response to what our partners and end-users need – a product that performs at the highest level while remaining practical and efficient to apply.”
The topcoat was engineered with a high solids content for a stable and controlled application and is a low-VOC direct-to-metal solution for steel, galvanized substrates and aluminum.
PPG operates in more than 50 countries and serves the construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets and aftermarkets.
