Cranberry Township-based Westinghouse Electric Company said its interim CEO will permanently take on the role of president and CEO effective immediately.

Westinghouse announced in a recent press release that Dan Sumner, who has been the interim CEO for the last year, will take over the position.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I look forward to Dan continuing in the role of CEO,” Dominic Kieran, Chairman of the Westinghouse Board of Directors. “Dan’s leadership and expertise combined with his deep knowledge of Westinghouse and our industry will be instrumental in positioning Westinghouse to deliver value for our operating plant and new plant customers around the world. We are confident that the business is well positioned for this growth under his leadership.”

Sumner was instrumental in positioning the company for growth during his tenure as interim. Prior to stepping into the interim role, Sumner led the company’s Global Operating Plant business where he oversaw delivery of the company’s products and services related to its global nuclear operating fleet, and from 2017 to 2023, he served as Westinghouse’s CFO. Prior to joining Westinghouse in 2010, he also worked in various financial roles in banking and metals.

“It is an honor to continue serving Westinghouse as its CEO,” Sumner said. “I am proud of Westinghouse’s storied history and the impact we have had in the world, but even more excited about the bright future that lies ahead for our company and industry. I look forward to partnering with our shareholders, leadership team and colleagues around the world to serve our customers and realize our full potential, together.”
