The Harrisburg Regional Chamber said it has been working to advance the priorities of the regional business community through its engagement on specific state and federal legislation.

The chamber, which serves Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties, recently submitted testimony to the Pennsylvania House Energy Committee for its March 24 hearing on House Bill 2076. The bill, currently under committee consideration, would establish a regulatory framework for geothermal energy development.

The chamber’s testimony urged the committee to prioritize efficient and transparent permitting processes, and to provide the industry with regulatory clarity.

The Harrisburg chamber also recently signed on to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s letter to congressional leaders supporting the Prove It Act, H.R. 1163. The federal legislation would amend the Regulatory Flexibility Act to close loopholes that allow federal agencies to hide the cost of regulations to small businesses. The bill also would enable more small-business input in the rulemaking process.

The U.S. House Committee on Small Business is currently considering the Prove It Act.
