An affiliation agreement will strengthen and expand Heritage Valley Health System’s (HVHS) services in western Allegheny County, greater Beaver County and the surrounding region.

Heritage Valley Health System is an integrated delivery network providing health care in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties as well as parts of eastern Ohio and the panhandle of West Virginia. The agreement would establish Heritage Valley Beaver and Heritage Valley Sewickley as Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN), an integrated health care delivery system serving greater Western Pennsylvania, 15th and 16th hospitals.

AHN would become the sole corporate member of HVHS, and both HVHS and AHN would make investments over the next 10 years to enhance clinical services, upgrade facility and improve the IT infrastructure.

“After a long and thorough deliberation, we are excited to announce our decision to affiliate with Highmark Health and AHN – an organization that shares our commitment to community health, our patient-first values, and our vision for advancing a sustainable model of providing accessible, high-quality and affordable care for everyone,” Norman Mitry, HVHS president and CEO, said. “Today is a milestone in our organization’s history, and a turning point that will greatly benefit the people we serve in this region and the hundreds of exceptional caregivers at Heritage Valley who work so heroically every day to deliver great care and comfort to those in need.”

The deal is pending government approval.
