Allentown-based Air Products, an industrial gas supplier, recently announced its Cleveland, Ohio, air separation facility is on-stream and supplying customers.
Air Products began operating in Cleveland in the 1960s where it supplies industries in the surrounding regional area including the chemicals, electronics, fabricated metals, food, health and medical, primary materials, and utilities industries. The new facility includes liquid production capability that can serve as a liquid back-up source to onsite gaseous supply for several Cleveland area customers.
“The new facility enhances this location as it will continue to provide a strategic footprint in an important merchant market while continuing to serve a significant onsite customer who is also investing at that location,” Francesco Maione, Air Products Americas president, said. “Our Cleveland operations serve a very diverse customer base in the regional area. The location is a good example of Air Products’ strength of production and supply from our base industrial gas business.”
The company also is investing to extend the life of its older air separation unit and liquefier plant. The location supplies the regional merchant market with gaseous oxygen, gaseous nitrogen, liquid argon and other products under a long-term contract to an onsite customer.
Air Products operates in approximately 50 countries.
