Exceler Building Solutions, an exterior panel building systems designer and manufacturer based in Hazleton, Pa., recently announced it has raised $5 million through an opportunity zone fund investing in green building.

The Exceler Opportunity Zone Growth Fund will be used to grow the company and offer investors the opportunity to defer, reduce and eliminate capital gains tax obligations. The goal is to raise $20 million.

Business Opportunity Zones help struggling communities improve vital infrastructure without relying solely on taxpayer contributions. Opportunity zones can be applied to businesses residing in the zones through the establishment of investment funds.

In December 2020, Exceler purchased a 180,000-square-foot steel factory that was designated as an opportunity zone. It is one of the few business-based opportunity zones available, and investors can participate directly in promoting clean, sustainable building.

“Exceler is open for business and currently bidding on jobs nationwide,” Dan Metzler, Exceler principal said. “Our cleaner, greener construction panels offer a faster, less expensive way to build a wide range of commercial and residential buildings. Hazleton, and our location specifically, offers a number of strategic advantages, including both rail and surface access to our markets as well as an ample local and skilled workforce.”

Exceler builds tailored wall panels with unlimited design options.
