Pittsburgh-based PANTHERx Rare, a specialty pharmacy purely focused on rare and orphan diseases, recently announced it is expanding.

“As the preeminent rare disease pharmacy, our company continues to experience tremendous growth in serving an increasing number of people living with rare conditions who need personalized support,” Rob Snyder, PANTHERx Rare CEO, said. “So, to continue fulfilling our promise to patients and healthcare professionals, and to our pharmaceutical partners that discover and develop life-saving treatments, we are investing in these near-term expansions to dramatically increase our specialty capacity and capabilities.”

The first facility will be located in Collierville, Tennessee. It will house more than 30,000-square-feet of warehousing and dispensing space, and 8,000-square-feet of refrigerator/freezer space. It will have a capacity of more than 1.5 million shipments annually, and is expected to be fully operational late this year.

The second facility is the company’s new, 65,000-square-foot national headquarters four miles from its current location to the Settlers Ridge campus in Pittsburgh. The company will move this fall.

The third facility will be a more than 28,000-square-foot dispensing building located on the headquarters’ Settlers Ridge campus. It is expected to open in late 2026.

In the United States, there are an estimated 25 million to 30 million people affected by rare conditions.
