Indian company purchases Jowitt & Rodgers

India-based Sak Abrasives, a manufacturer of industrial abrasives for the Indian and overseas markets, recently purchased Philadelphia-based Jowitt & Rodgers Co., a manufacturer of resin bonded grinding wheels, discs and segments.

Founded in 1951, Jowitt & Rodgers’ products are used in the production of automotive parts, bearings, cutlery and hand tools. It operates a manufacturing plant in Philadelphia.

“We are very fortunate to join forces with a Family-owned business that shares similar ethics and values,” Fred Rodgers, Jowitt & Rodgers president, said. “Together, we remain committed to providing a safe and rewarding place to work for our employees, strengthening our partnerships with our customers and our suppliers. I’m confident that the Jowitt & Rodgers name along with Buffalo and SAK will continue to stand for quality and service for years to come.”

Sak Abrasives is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sak Industries Private Ltd. It operates a manufacturing plant near Chennai, India, with sales office in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Noida, and Pune, India.

The company also has a U.S. presence through its group company, Buffalo Abrasives, that manufactures a wide range of custom engineered resin, and epoxy and shellac bonded grinding wheels. It also is a leading manufacturer of Roll Grinding Wheels.
