PPG completes $15M investment in Indiana facility

PPG recently announced it completed a $15 million investment in its Brazil, Ind., powder coatings production facility.

The company added 20,000 square feet to accommodate two lines for bonded metallic powder and automated packaging capabilities. The upgrades will give the company greater product and process quality control while decreasing lead times for color matching and production.

The facility, which employs 90 people, serves customers in the appliance and general industrial manufacturing sectors. PPG plans to hire up to 12 new employees at the site.

“An expansion of this size takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, and dedication from leaders, employees, and the community,” Kevin Braun, PPG vice president of global industrial coatings, said. “I’d like to thank our incredible PPG team and the Brazil community for making this expansion possible.”

PPG held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 26. Company leaders, plant employees, government officials, and community members attended.

The expansion project is part of PPG’s strategy to expand its powder coatings offerings and increase production. The company has been making four strategic acquisitions and has expanded production and service elements at seven powder plants worldwide. Additional investments are planned for this year.

Powder coatings are generally formulated without solvents that release volatile organic compounds.
