Kaiser Foundation Hospitals launches Risant Health

Kaiser Foundation Hospitals recently launched Risant Health, a new nonprofit organization created to expand and accelerate the adoption of value-based care in community-based health system environments.

Risant Health’s vision is to increase access to value-based care and coverage. It will acquire and connect health systems. The company will be headquartered in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

Danville-based Geisinger Health will be the first health system to join Risant Health, pending regulatory approval. Geisinger employs more than 25,000 people and more than 1,700 physicians in Pennsylvania.

The move allows the company to strengthen its ability to enhance its patient services while expanding its impact on health care.

Health systems that become part of Risant Health will operate as regional or community-based health systems serving and meeting the needs of their communities.

Dr. Jaewon Ryu, Geisinger Health president and CEO, will be Risant Health CEO.

“Geisinger is excited for what joining Risant Health will mean both for our system and for the communities we serve in Pennsylvania,” Ryu said. “Geisinger will be able to accelerate our vision and continue to invest in new and existing capabilities and facilities while charting a path for the future of American health care through Risant Health.”
