New York’s Approved Energy granted license to provide power to Pennsylvania markets

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has granted a license to New York City-based Approved Energy to serve electric customers across the Keystone State, the company said Tuesday.

Approved Energy said the plan is its most recent step toward strategic growth and market expansion. Currently, Approved Energy supplies power, natural gas, and other services to customers in New York and New Jersey.

“Approved Energy is executing an expansion plan that maximizes the deep experience of our leadership team, best-in-class technology, and a drive to lead the industry in service and innovation,” said Niraj Parikh, Chief Operating Officer at Approved Energy. “Extending our service to Pennsylvania energy customers is the latest evolution in the long history of the Approved brand.”

Pennsylvania allows energy customers across the spectrum to shop for energy products that meet their budget, risk tolerance, planning, and sustainability goals. Part of the regional transmission grid known as the PJM, the state has seven different Local Distribution Companies or LDCs. Approved Energy said it will launch services in each LDC over the coming months.

The company said it will provide Pennsylvanians with energy-purchasing plans to meet various objectives, from monthly pricing to long-term fixed hedges to blended contracts. Approved Energy will also offer a full suite of renewable energy products, the company said.
