Federal spending bill funds Pennsylvania projects

The federal Consolidated Appropriations Act, recently approved in the U.S. House of Representatives, will fund multiple projects in Pennsylvania’s seventh congressional district.

“This government funding bill reflects priorities I have long worked to advance for the people of Pennsylvania’s seventh district— lowering health care costs, keeping our promises to seniors and veterans, investing in education and job training, and addressing the unique needs of our community,” U.S. Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA) said. “I am proud that this bipartisan, bicameral bill includes funding for my Regional Innovation Hubs legislation and fifteen Community Project Funding requests, supports law enforcement and our military, and invests in the Veterans Administration, Social Security Administration, and Internal Revenue Service to ensure American taxpayers receive their benefits in a timely manner.”

The Greater Valley YMCA Southern Lehigh County Y Facility Project received $3 million for pre-construction and land development costs and initial construction costs.

The Interdisciplinary Healthcare and Workforce Development Center received $2.7 million to create an integrated, interdisciplinary, and interprofessional team-based space to support healthcare workforce needs in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos.

Bethlehem Greenway Trail received $2.7 million to purchase a stretch of the abandoned Norfolk Southern Railway line to construct the remainder of the trail.
