Koppers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Koppers Holdings, recently closed on its acquisition of Gross & Janes Co., a Missouri-based independent supplier of untreated railroad crossties.

Gross & Janes is headquartered in Kirkwood, Mo., and has operations in Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas. In 2021, it reported approximately $50 million in annual sales.

“I’m glad to get to the point where we have officially added the Gross & Janes team and their network of operations and suppliers to Koppers,” Koppers President and CEO Leroy Ball said. “The addition further strengthens our vertically integrated business model that brings value to our customer base by de-risking their supply chains for critical products. Furthermore, the synergies realized through this acquisition will be immediately accretive to earnings while also displacing the need for capital spending to replace equipment at certain Koppers legacy operating sites.”

Koppers is an integrated global provider of treated wood products, wood treatment chemicals, and carbon compounds. It serves customers through a global manufacturing and distribution network. Its facilities are located in North America, South America, Australasia, and Europe.

The company offers products used in a variety of niche applications. End markets include the agriculture, aluminum, construction, railroad, residential lumber, rubber, steel, specialty chemical, and utility industries.
