State awards $40.1M in redevelopment, community improvement grants

Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced that the state recently awarded $40.1 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grants to 10 redevelopment and community improvement projects in nine counties.

Grants were awarded between $1.5 million and $7 million. Funding will revitalize communities and create community education and workforce opportunities.

“I’m pleased to provide $40.1 million for projects that support a cleaner environment, economic development, job creation, and education,” Wolf said. “These projects will be transformative for their communities.”

ArtsQuest in Northampton County was awarded $7 million to redevelop an abandoned factory into a facility for entertainment programming, cultural attractions, science displays, and community events.

The City of Harrisburg received $6 million for improvements to FNB field, home of the Harrisburg Senators, a minor league baseball team.

Riverfront 47, LP or Its Assigns in Allegheny County received $5 million for phase one of a new residential and commercial property.

IRG Erie in Erie County received $5 million to support the development of a $200 million waste plastic recycling facility on 25 acres in a high-unemployment area of Erie City.

York County Agricultural Society in York County received $4 million to support building renovations and upgrades at the York Fairgrounds.
