Ox Industries acquires Hanover facility

Ox Industries announced last week that it had acquired a 150,000-square-foot facility in Hanover, Pa., to expand its converting capacity in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Ox said the facility will house next-generation equipment and manufacturing practices and expand just in time stocking products and services.

“We are excited to expand our Hanover location and to continue to invest in the community where we originally started OX. This is part of a $15 million investment in Hanover that will vertically integrate with our 100% recycled paperboard mills and create 50 new green-collar jobs,” said CEO Kevin Hayward.

Ox Industries is the largest independently owned, vertically integrated producer of paperboard, specialty paper, tube & core, and protective packaging products. The company operates four recycled paper mills and seven converting plants in nine states.

Ox Industries was founded in 1996 as Ox Paper Tube & Core with just a handful of employees. The company said it has grown to over 500 employees with multiple mills and converting facilities across the country.

One of those facilities is the Halltown Mill in Halltown, W.V. Started in 1869, the Halltown was originally a paper mill until it became an operational paper board mill. Beginning as Eyster and Son, the company later transformed into Halltown Paper Board Co. and produced 6-tons of recycled materials per day. The Halltown facility is the oldest continuously operating industry in West Virginia.

The facility was purchased by Ox Industries in 2007 and currently recycles 1.8 million gallons of water per day with zero discharge, producing over 120 tons of paperboard per day.
