Pennsylvania’s Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Program recently awarded Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC) a $130,000 grant to support manufacturing career awareness.

DVIRC’s Dream Team program will recruit no less than 15 young manufacturing professionals from area companies to serve as ambassadors to high schools in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

The ambassadors will speak about their profession as well as its requirements and rewards with students, teachers, and administrators.

DVIRC will train the ambassadors on the program’s goals and how to deliver compelling presentations. Each ambassador will make at least one presentation.

“This award is outstanding news for our region’s manufacturers and will enable us to pilot the Dream Team program in Southeastern Pennsylvania – an important career awareness initiative that brings young professionals into high schools to tell students and teachers about their careers in modern manufacturing,” DVIRC President and CEO Barry Miller said. “Dream Team is one piece of a larger effort to raise awareness about the great job opportunities in manufacturing, and we’re grateful to the (Tom) Wolf Administration for their confidence in and support of this program.”

The Dream Team program will partner with local manufacturers to recruit ambassadors.

Training-to-Career grants support projects that result in the advancement of manufacturing, short-term work readiness, or job placement.
