Pittsburgh-based HarbisonWalker International (HWI), a member of Calderys, announced its launch of a new refractory solution, the AZTECH-S.

A successor to its VISTA product, the AZTECH-S product is engineered specifically for glass furnace superstructures and to deliver more durability, improved stability and more consistent performance in glass production environments.

HWI is a leading supplier of refractory products and services in the United States. Part of Calderys, the company is the brand for the Americas region of the group and operates an extensive network of manufacturing sites and distribution centers across the Americas, along with the largest refractory industry research facility in North America.

The company said the AZTECH-S was designed to withstand aggressive vapor-phase attack, alkali condensation, and high-temperature cycling while maintaining structural integrity and minimizing contamination risks. The product uses a premium sintered composition of alumina-zirconia-silica, and is able to deliver enhanced resistance to corrosion and volatilization mechanisms. The microstructure of AZTECH-S provides support for stability in harsh furnace atmospheres that helps operators maintain consistent performance over extended campaigns.

The company said the product will be introduced at Glassman Latin America on May 20–21, 2026, in Mexico City, Mexico. Officials said the innovation and sustainability exhibition will provide an ideal platform to launch the next-generation solution.
