Cranberry Township-based Westinghouse announced last week that it had signed an agreement to acquire BHI Energy.
BHI Energy is an umbrella organization covering all aspects of power generation through the entire electrical delivery system. The company has more than 8,500 employees operating in more than 130 locations.
“Creating customer value and supporting the complete lifecycle of nuclear operations is a key part of our strategy. Combining these complementary organizations will further strengthen our ability to serve the nuclear operating fleet through an expanded presence in our core business while setting a new standard in outage and maintenance efficiencies,” Westinghouse President and CEO Patrick Fragman said. “We look forward to welcoming the BHI team to Westinghouse.”
The transaction is fully funded by Westinghouse and is subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the company said.
BHI has more than 40 years of experience partnering with its customers to service power assets, the company said, supporting nuclear, fossil, hydro, wind, and solar power generation. Westinghouse has been in business for over 130 years and supplied the world’s first commercial pressurized water reactor in 1957. The company said the acquisition would expand its global capabilities and expertise in nuclear plant maintenance and modification services, as well as other forms of power generation.
