Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a shipbuilding company serving commercial and government customers, recently selected Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp.’s wholly-owned subsidiary Air & Liquid Systems Corp.’s Buffalo Pumps Division to supply the U.S. Navy with centrifugal pumps.
The contract has a ceiling value of $22 million if all options and award terms are exercised and covers six years. Shipments are expected to begin late next year.
The pumps will be used in guided-missile frigates for nine onboard services, including circulation pumps, seawater cooling, and titanium fire pumps.
“We are proud to serve Fincantieri Marinette Marine as they support the U.S. Navy in building world-class warships to strengthen the national security and defense of our country,” Terry Kenny, Air & Liquid Systems president, said.
Buffalo Pumps manufactures centrifugal pumps for the marine defense, industrial refrigeration, and fossil-fueled power generation industries. The company is based in New York.
Fincantieri Marine Group is based in Wisconsin.
Headquartered in Carnegie, Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp. has sales offices on four continents and manufacturing facilities in four countries. It also participates in three operating joint ventures in China. The company manufactures and sells highly engineered, high-performance specialty metal products and customized equipment. Subsidiary, Union Electric Steel Corp. produces forged and cast rolls.
