Comcast completes Sullivan County expansion

Comcast recently completed work in Sullivan County to expand its network by bringing gigabit broadband to the area.

The expansion included 1,315 homes and businesses in the Eagles Mere and Laporte boroughs. Additional extensions are planned in Sonestown and Muncy Valley that will add 170 more homes by autumn 2022.

Comcast also plans or has begun construction on investments in five Pennsylvania counties which collectively will provide broadband to nearly 3,400 rural homes and businesses.

By the end of the year, 1,725 homes and businesses in parts of Northumberland, Montour and Columbia counties will have service. An additional 185 homes and businesses will have service in Lancaster County by autumn 2022.

“We have committed to investing in and expanding our network to ensure that more customers across our region have the critical broadband connections they need for their educational, professional and personal lives,” Toni Murphy, Comcast Keystone Region senior vice president, said. “We are proud to connect these rural communities with fast, secure and dependable internet service that is built to meet their needs today and into the future.”

Over the past 27 months, the company has expanded broadband service to 8,800 rural homes and businesses in Cambria, Clearfield, Fayette and Somerset counties.
