State announces launch of PA CareerLink Day

Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Jennifer Berrier announced Monday the launch of a statewide PA CareerLink Day on Aug. 12.

PA CareerLink is part of L&I’s initiative to transform the landscape of how job seekers find family sustaining jobs and how employers find the skilled candidates that they need by serving as a one-stop-shop for many related services.

Job seekers are encouraged to visit their local PA CareerLinks location to participate in activities that connect job seekers with employers and to attend job fairs, open houses, and employer talks.

Activities will vary by location but include training and resource booths, mock interviews, and resume workshops.

“Right now, with our commonwealth on a comeback and our economy strengthening, many employers are looking to connect with Pennsylvanians who are seeking to join the workforce,” Berrier said. “PA CareerLinks are home to a wealth of resources for job seekers every day of the year. On Aug. 12, local PA CareerLinks will showcase some of their best resources while giving people looking for work an opportunity to visit their local PA CareerLink office, meet employers and workforce development experts, and learn more about the free support services available to them during their job hunt.”

Attendance at most PA CareerLink Day activities counts toward unemployment benefits’ weekly work search requirements. All those receiving unemployment benefits are especially encouraged to attend as federal unemployment benefit programs are scheduled to end on Sept. 4.
