Alcoa Corp. recently announced it will supply Erbslöh Aluminium, a German company creating aluminum profiles used in automotive technology and modern industrial applications, with its low-carbon primary aluminum, EcoLum.

The product, part of Alcoa’s Sustana line, has a carbon footprint approximately three and a half times above the global average.

Erbslöh Aluminium will use the product in its NEWTRAL brand of alloys designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions for customers in the automotive, consumer electronics, industrial, and furniture accessories industries.

“Manufacturers and consumers continue to demand the use of more sustainable raw materials across the global supply chain, and our Sustana products continue to see growing interest among customers focused on sustainability,” Adam Smith, Alcoa, vice president of aluminum sales and trading, said. “Erbslöh Aluminium has a strong reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality products for a range of critical industries, and this agreement reflects our continued drive to advance sustainably and work with customers on solutions.”

Alcoa partnered with RONAL Group earlier this year to supply EcoLum and ELYSIS zero-carbon smelting technology for wheels on the Audi e-tron GT.

There has been a growing demand for more sustainable aluminum products, boosting sales of EcoLum products.
