U.S. Rep. John Joyce (R-PA) said President Joe Biden’s environmental agenda would harm American families and the economy during an energy forum Monday.

His remarks came during the “Mounting Costs: The Real Harm of the Biden Administration’s Environmental Agenda on the American People and the Economy.”

Joyce asked witnesses who would suffer most under the president’s “carbon neutral” goals.

“It is clear that the path forward under this administration’s policies will lead to higher energy costs. I represent hundreds of thousands of hardworking Pennsylvanians across the economic spectrum,” said Dr. Joyce. “Who in our society will bear the greatest cost of higher energy prices? And how will this affect individual household costs?”

“It will be most difficult to bear for low-income households, there’s no doubt about that,” said Dr. Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum. “Our estimate is that we could see these utility bills doubling each month, and that’s going to be an enormous burden for those households.”

Hosted by the Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans, the forum looked at the impact the Biden Administration’s environmental policies would have on the American people, including increased costs for electricity, increased electricity rates, and increase manufacturing costs for businesses.

Michelle Bloodworth, president and CEO of America’s Power, testified that it would be highly unrealistic that the energy industry would be able to conform to Biden’s carbon neutral goals in such a short amount of time and that the policies were setting American businesses up for failure.
