LED lighting company moving headquarters to Erie

Truck-Lite Co., a provider of LED lighting systems for commercial vehicles, plans to relocate its headquarters from Falconer, N.Y., to Erie’s Knowledge Park.

The company will lease a nearly 30,000-square-foot space in Penn State Behrend’s Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Center. Truck-Lite will construct two research labs, a product-modeling lab, and a photometric testing facility to study the light emitted by LEDs, lamps, and other devices.

By moving to this space, the company will gain access to the university’s facilities, faculty expertise, and student and new graduate talent.

“We look forward to this new phase in our longstanding partnership with Truck-Lite and Clarience Technologies,” said Ralph Ford, chancellor of Penn State Behrend. “The most valuable resource for any company is its people. By moving to Knowledge Park, Truck-Lite is investing in Erie as both a source of talented employees and a place where the Truck-Lite team can grow and thrive.”

Truck-Lite and Penn State Behrend have collaborated since 2006. Earlier this year, they launched an Early Career Professorship program at Behrend.

Approximately 90 Truck-Lite employees will move to the new headquarters, which is expected to open by the end of the year. Staff includes marketing, finance, customer service, planning, engineering, and product testing.
