Quaker Houghton, an industrial process fluids company, recently unveiled plans to be carbon neutral company-wide by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions across its value chain by 2050.
To achieve its goals, the company will neutralize residual emissions using high quality carbon offsets, institute energy efficiency and conservation measures, and purchase green power and Energy Attribute Certificates.
The company’s targets are based on the Science Based Target Initiative and are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
“I am proud of the significant progress we have made in establishing the foundation for Quaker Houghton’s sustainability program,” Michael F. Barry, Quaker Houghton chairman, CEO and president, said. “It is our responsibility to ethically manage environmental, social, and economic concerns so that future generations are healthy and successful. Our focus, and first commitment, starts with achieving carbon neutrality.”
The company also plans to unveil a comprehensive set of environmental and social goals later this year. It launched the Global Reporting Initiative last year, which supports the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure, and a sustainability program, with a new governance structure and reporting transparency aligned with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.
Headquartered in Conshohocken, Quaker Houghton operations in more than 25 countries.
